The introduction of the PlayStation Portable in 2005, during the era of the PS3, brought forth quirky UMD cartridges and, during that period, some of the most impressive visuals witnessed in a handheld gaming apparatus. In 2011, its successor, the PS Vita, made its debut. While it garnered adoration from dedicated enthusiasts, it struggled to secure the essential developer backing required to establish a substantial foothold in the handheld market—a domain still predominantly ruled by Nintendo to this day. However, a new iteration of the PSP is now on the horizon, in a manner of speaking.
