The Pyro Primary Trials Part 6 - Stock Flamethrower
Thats right, its Rottenburg time. On top of it, its not a year old recording.
Landing in a Virginia server isnt exactly ideal as having a slightly higher ping isnt going to make playing Pyro any easier.
But as you would expect from a Hamlet Hostility Bootcamp game its going to be messy and we gotta deal with it somehow.
Like in previous games, no cherry picking of the perfect situation for any given Primary.
This is a pure solo queue experience and I will try to follow the same upgrade path as much as possible due to varying amounts of credits being collected, or as much as I can remember, in this trial series.
There might be some small variations.
I also tried to not inflate my damage needlessly by attacking Sentry Busters.
Situations of damage farming might still have occurred on accident.
Of course none of these games are directly comparable as team compositions and players are variables that will never be able to be reproduced 1 to 1.
It does however still reflect the potential and capability of Pyro Primaries in a multitude of situations as well as its shortcomings.
As a former Pyro main, someone who really enjoys playing the class, my hope was always to see Pyros more accepted in games.
The situation unfortunately wasnt helped with Valve's addition of the Gas Passer. Yes it made Pyro more accepted by the broader playerbase but not for the reasons the class should have been.
Instead of actually learning and understanding how to play as Pyro, it further widened the gap by dumbing down Pyros role and inadvertently created playstyles that are borderline viable by rewarding players for making bad decisions and enabling delay and stall tactics to make them seem helpful while contributing next to nothing.
My vain hope will always be that by showing that Pyros can perform well no matter what Primary weapon they use, it might just convince someone to give it a genuine shot.
