The REAL Reason Why Pluto Isn`t A Planet Anymore - The Cosmic Breakup
This is the story of how we accidentally discovered a planet, fell in love with it, and then had to break up with it in front of the whole world.
Imagine waking up one morning to discover that bananas are no longer considered fruits. I know it’s an absurd and extreme example, but, well, that's exactly how millions of people felt in 2006 when astronomers dropped a cosmic bombshell - Pluto was getting kicked out of the planet club. Textbooks became instant vintage collections, classroom models turned into scientific relics, and an entire generation had to wrap their heads around the fact that everything they knew about the solar system had just gone sideways.
But hold on - how does a planet just stop being a planet? Turns out, before 2006, we never actually had an official definition of what makes a planet a planet. It's like playing basketball for a century before someone finally writes down the rules. The International Astronomical Union (IAU) decided it was time to fix this cosmic identity crisis, and they came up with three requirements for planetary status.
