Ranked 95 in the lemon64 top 100 is The Sentinel apparently released in America as The Sentry. It was Developd by Geoff Crammond and published by Firebird in 1986. This is a game I've got no memories of playing but it uses procedurally generated levels meaning that the game has a total of 10000 levels each with a code you have to know on top of the level number. The only way to get new codes is to defeat the sentinel of a previous level. Depending on how much energy you have left it give you the code for a level that number of levels ahead, making it easy to move ahead or if you find a level too difficult you could skip it by beating the last level you beat with a different amount of energy.
Speaking of energy it's what you use to create things in this game, you don't actually move other than to rotate and look around, you create a new robot body for yourself and warp into it. You can also create trees to block the view of the sentinel because they can't absorb trees, you can create rock to get to higher levels, and you can create your new body. You'd run out of energy fast but you have another skill absorption.
This lets you absorb trees rocks and other robots to regain or increase your energy. Not only do you absorb your own old bodies you can also absorb the sentinel and his minions. In fact that's how you beat the level, absorbing the sentinel and taking his position atop his special block.
Your last useful skill is Hyperspace! This randomly warps you somewhere on the board, which is a bad thing for the most part, it actually gets used against you when the sentinel spawns meanies. However in an emergency it can get you out of a pinch. If the sentinel can see you he'll start absorbing your energy one point at at time so hyperspace could save your live but you'll pretty much be starting from scratch most of the time. You also use it to warp to the next level if used when standing on the sentinel's special spot.
