The Spirit of the Samurai | Linux Vs Windows | Side by Side Comparation (GTX 1650 Super)
Steam Page: https://lurk.ly/3mOfy5
Description:
The Spirit of the Samurai runs through Proton, using the DXVK since it uses DX11 on Windows, the game uses Unity Engine
Performance is worse on Linux, I can't really tell why exactly, but some scenes there is a massive difference in performance.
I couldn't get MangoHud to work in every occasion but when there was some massive differences between Windows and Linux, it seemed like the GPU Usage was maxed out on Linux while Windows was far below (with a framerate limit), something is pushing too much the Linux version, either DXVK or just VRAM not being enough, it is really hard to tell, still it's an easy game to run at 60 FPS nonethereless.
I've also tried Proton-experimental expecting better results, but it's pretty much in line with the proton 9.0-4, hopefully in the future, a more faster and refined DXVK might help to close the gap, still, give the how lightweight this game is, it poses no issues for me on Linux though
Regarding stability it is perfect on both, no crashes, everything works as it should, altough I felt some minor additionally micro-stuttering comparing to Windows.
