Lower cost AV to HDMI scalers exist in an odd place for today's retro game world. They offer an easy way to hook up your older consoles from yesteryear to your HDTV but the quality and experience they offer are grossly lacking compared to better alternatives like the OSSC. TTX Tech has sent me their AV to HDMI scaler to test out and It was an interesting experience. When I first started doing YouTube and Streaming I employed a similar type of scaler for component video and was not impressed. With TTX's offering, I was happy to see it was a bit better than what I had used in the past and I will even be able to make some use out of it in the future. That being said I would never ever recommend anyone serious about retro gaming picking up this type of scaler and instead save up for an amazing option like the OSSC or RetroTINK 2X. HDMI mods are also becoming quite regular with a number of systems having options these days with more coming all the time! If you only play your old systems a few hours a year though, you will probably be ok with the performance of TTX's offering.
