0The Ultimate DOOM is an expanded version of DOOM which was released in retail stores and was also available as a free upgrade for the v1.9 version of the game (although Ultimate Doom is based on v1.9 of the game). This version is also the version that is often available on digital re-releases. The new fourth episode, Thy Flesh Consumed, serves as a prequel to DOOM II where Doomguy is avenging his sweet little dead bunny by slaughtering the demons that had been sent through the same doorway between Hell and Earth. Levels in here make use of some of the new features in the earlier-released DOOM II such as fast doors and key-activated switches.
