It's a story about a retired man called Harold who sets off one morning to the postbox to send a letter to his friend Queenie Hennessy who's dying of cancer in Berwick-upon-Tweed, only when Harold gets to the postbox it occurs to him that if he walks the whole way he will keep Queenie alive. So that's what he does. He leaves Kingsbridge in South Devon, wearing the shoes in which he left the house and a coat, no mobile phone, his wife back at home hoovering and he begins a journey to Berwick-upon-Tweed." - Rachel Joyce.
