Sonic.Exe is a prime and quite frankly perfect example of what used to define Creepypasta's.
The quality of the story is... not the best.
The cliche's and plot holes are so frequent that it's almost dizzying, and realism is... well, not something the story really has.
And that is why it's fantastic.

A big reason why I think the Creepypasta "fandom," and the internet in general has declined in unique fun-ness is everyone's worried that some stranger they've never and probably will never meet might think they're cringe.
Jeff the Eyelid-less, Eyeless Jacksepticeye, Laughing Jacksfilms, Sunkey.Exe, Clockwork: The Time is Now, Squidward's Less-Than-Stellar-Day, all of these stories/characters have 2 things in common.
1. They're all very big and well known online, both in and outside of the Creepypasta community.
2. Their quality is, for lack of a better term, not on par with 1984 or Watership Down.

Y'know why nobody's writing, let alone taking seriously stories where demonic plushies of iconic children's mascot characters fly out of a tv and attack the author?
Because that's cringe.
In other words, it's because they were fun.
But see the important thing when writing and especially rating a Creepypasta is that you make it serious, scary, and most of all, as realistic as you possibly can.

Creepypasta's were a genre of online story, I know the term technically still applies, but nobody really thinks of a genre when they hear "Creepypasta."

...to be completely honest I have no idea with what I'm trying to get at in thi description-
I don't like, dislike modern Creepypastas, I just wish once in a while we got a burst of goofy ones, a few brave souls unafraid to write more lost episodes or haunted gaming or like, some goofy serial criminal with a horrendously insane backstory.
I get that stories nowadays try to be the best in terms of literature quality and as a genre of story people wanna make it something to be taken more seriously, and that's very admirable.

But for me, the gloriously goofy and hilariously unrealistic and unbelievable story of Sonic.Exe will always beat the realistic, serious stories of today.
