Small interruption to the usual schedule! As long-standing subscribers will know I am something of a theatre lover (check out my 'Theatrical Quality' playlist) and every year I compose a short recap video to record what I saw in the previous year. If you enjoy theatre as well, I would love to hear from you and share the joy of live performances.

I didn't quite reach the number of shows in 2023 that I managed in previous years but I reckon 62 productions through the year is still a pretty good record. Although those shows were mostly at my usual haunts around Bristol, Bath and London there were a couple of venues I'd not visited before. There was a very successful and enjoyable trip up to Coventry to the well established and well respected Belgrade Theatre and then, in London, my first visit to a brand new venue, @sohoplace. Oh, and not forgetting several shows in the new emerging talent Elevate Festival from the Theatre Royal Bath.

The breadth of theatre productions available; by actors young and old, amateur and professional, future stars and established legends, from intimate solo performances to huge ensemble casts make for a variety of stories and experiences that few, if any, other art forms can offer.

This short video is a simple record of the shows I saw in 2023, and hopefully serves as a heartfelt THANK YOU to all the people who are working so hard to keep theatre alive after the terrifying struggles of the pandemic lockdowns and the ensuing Cost of Living Crisis.

As we leave 2023 behind us many venues and companies are still struggling so I hope you will join me in supporting the great work they do to bring so many important and inspirational stories to life and enrich all our lives.
