WWE Raw 1/7/13 Review:
- Dolph Ziggler vs John Cena (Ziggler hits Cena with all his signatures and finishers but Cena kicks out of everything including "Big Ending" finisher interference by Langston,
Cena wins via AA)
- Brad Maddox approaches Heyman again to referee Ryback vs Punk later tonight,
Heyman refuses
- Wade Barrett destroys Santino Marella
- Antonio Cesaro defeats Great Khali
with an impressive Neutralizer finisher (rematch from Main Event)
- Ryback vs CM Punk TLC match for WWE title (best match of the night with various physical spots and punishment inflicted on both men, Ryback puts away Punk to the outside table and nearly grabs the title but the lights turn off as the Shield interfers again, Ryback gets powerbombed through a table and Punk retains the title)
- CM Punk cuts a long winded, semi-shoot promo about how the fans never mattered and
Punk did everything by himself, namedrops Tyson Kidd taking a backseat to Little Jimmy,
Daniel Bryan's technical aspects overshadowed by catchphrases, and Brodus Clay's
monster potential buried under a kid-friendly gimmick. Punk seems to be trying too hard
to be a heel and came across insincere; half the crowd doesn't care or just seem bored.
The Rock finally comes out and plays to the crowd's importance and how Punk lost the fans,
and cut some jokes regarding Punk's "cookiepuss". Punk lashes back with kicking The Rock's ass at the Royal Rumble and drops the "your arms are too short to box with God" line.
The people seemed half-interested, half-tired until Rock mentioned
"one on one with the Great One" and Rock Bottoms Punk!
