It seems that your balls are not the one thing not saved between games. Goodbye stack of 50 potions you will be missed. Also I find out that the stages at the end of the game are huge and very tiring to get through. If you could only save your progress mid dungeon and not lose your balls. This game ended up frustrating me a bit as the ball powers overshadow the pong game entirely and then you lose them if you save.
