This means that if you’ve used ChatGPT and later deleted a conversation, it might still be saved and used as legal evidence. The company said this stored data will only be accessible to a small legal team and won’t be used for training AI models. However, many people are now more cautious about what they type into ChatGPT.
OpenAI’s CEO, Sam Altman, warned that ChatGPT conversations don’t have the same privacy protections as talks with doctors or lawyers. He suggested that one day, there might be new laws to protect AI chats, but for now, users should be careful.
In short, even deleted chats may not be private. Unless you're using ChatGPT with enterprise or special privacy settings, your messages could be kept and used in court if needed. Always think before you type.
