There lurks a sense of fear, that's hard to deny it.

For things that go bump, in the dark of the night,
Can cause a shiver, and give us a fright.

A creaking floorboard, or a howling wind,
Can make our hearts race, and our nerves grind.

But what's that shadow, lurking in the corner,
Is it just our imagination, or something that's a goner?

A sudden noise, that we can't explain,
Can fill our minds with terror, and drive us insane.

We huddle in our beds, and pull up the covers,
Hoping and praying, that it's just our mothers.

But as the night wears on, and the darkness deepens,
The fear within us, grows and strengthens.

For things that go bump, in the night so deep,
Can be the stuff of nightmares, that make us weep.

So if you hear a sound, that you can't explain,
Just remember, it's all in your brain.
