33We went hiking lakeside at saguaro lake at butcher jones (tutorial coming soon to our feed) & then on our drive back, we slammed the brakes and pulled over when we saw these WILD HORSES scattered across the hill. Absolutely magical ๐ค
This encounter made me so grateful again for the conservation work Salt River Wild Horse Management Group does for the wild horses of Arizona. They humanely manage a large population of horses all over the salt river / bush highway area through a ton of hard work and volunteer hours.
Last night, I met Larry who is one of the volunteers hanging out where the horses were gathered. Seeing horses like this on the side of the road is obviously amazing so there were quite some cars and people trying to take photos. Without volunteers like Larry, these horses wouldnโt have an advocate watching out for them ensuring the public doesnโt hurt them while they are trying to appreciate them via photos.
There is a law (S.B. 1057) that is being attempted to be passed right now to protect the wild horses from inhumane roundup, slaughter, etc. that needs approval from Senator Kerr. We know Senator Kerr appreciates animals being in the dairy industry and we would like to plead with her to pass this bill.
Not only do the horses provide beauty to the Salt River and Alpine areas, but they drive tourism and dollars being spent in our communities as people seek to visit and observe. This would help our state and the animals. Please, Senator Kerr.
