On November 4, 1996 WWF Monday Night Raw aired from the War Memorial Coliseum in Fort Wayne, Indiana. In one of the most controversial moments in WWF history, the airing of the “Pillman’s Got A Gun” segment occurred at Brian Pillman’s home in Walton, Kentucky. Kevin Kelly conducted an interview with Pillman, recovering from an attack at the hands of Stone Cold Steve Austin the week previous during WWF Superstars, and his wife Melanie at their home, during which Vince McMahon interrupted to note Austin was circling the neighborhood, with Pillman then displaying a 9mm handgun and implying he would shoot Austin if he came through the door. This angle could very well have been the launching point for the shock TV period so fondly remembered as the “Attitude Era”.
