Getting nervous about a vanishing anomaly, reading that something terrible will happen in the forest (great!), and approaching a cool but creepy bone throne. Lol. I love the jump scares this game has started creating all the time!

Don't forget to show me the love by liking this vid! :)

On 9 June 2015 IMGN.PRO, a Polish indie developer, released Kholat, a horror game based on the events of the Dyatlov Pass incident of 2 February 1959. 10 Russian students from the Ural Polytechnic Institute traveled through the Ural Mountains to reach the peak called Otorten. 9 of the 10 went missing on Kholat Syakhl and were found over the course of 4 months, dead with severe internal injuries. (The 10th had turned back because of illness after one day of travel.) To this day, the mystery of what actually happened has never been solved. Coincidentally, the name of the peak where their bodies were found means "Dead Mountain" in the native Mansi tongue. What's more, the name of their destination translates to "Don't Go There." Perhaps they should have heeded the warning.

Controls are relatively standard: W, A, S, and D for movement; Left Ctrl for crouch; and Left Shift for run. There is virtually no HUD in the game, but C brings up a compass on the left of the screen, occasionally a "Press E" prompt will appear as you approach something, and M will lift a map to help you orient yourself. Coordinates on the map display as you move around the map. Look for coordinates on landmarks (rocks, etc.) as you travel to get your bearings. It doesn't get much more realistic than that.

Narration voiced by actor Sean Bean, the game has received many positive reviews by critics. Will I also perish on the mountainside, or can I make it back alive? Let's play Kholat and see together.
