How important are words in defining a game or TV show?

As the saying goes, words have meanings, otherwise they aren't words.

Knowing what is meant drastically impacts your understanding of a topic. But worse than not knowing, is thinking you understood when you really didn't. So here I look at a few words used to describe characters in Thundarr the Barbarian and how that affects the setting of the show.
