Thunder Force II - hyper difficulty glitch mode - Sega Genesis 3
I was always bored with the difficulty of the original Thunder Force II game and was pleasantly surprised by glitching the connections of the cartridge that I could allow it to read random data and get the cartridge into a hyper-difficult mode where the number of enemy shots fired were rapid-fire, and seemingly unlimited up until some on-screen memory limit. It made for an insanely crazy game. I haven't tried this in decades, and here is my first play through, starting at stage 2. I forgot many things, including the lack of end-of-game unless you start at stage 1, so when the game re-starts at stage 1, you can see I've recalled a few things from my past shmup career experience with the Thunder Force. The, what I call classic, white background to the HUD is an indicator that you're in this extreme hyper difficulty mode.
First play through is Stage 2 through Stage 8.
Game restarts at Stage 1 at 23:32 for full play through to Stage 9, completing the game.
AUTO DEMO starts at 53:32 for an indication of normal difficulty gameplay.
