Here is my third attempt at a timelapse with the editor of Wizards and Warlords. The map is 40 x 40 this time.
Will you find what kind of events happened ?
Do you have any idea for the title of this map ?

Here is my creative process :
1) Place Huge things, like land masses, Ocean
2) Place Mountains, because rivers flow from them
3) Place hills around mountains
4) Doing a first pass at placing small details : more this, less that, one hex at a time (usually I flatten mountains, cut some land borders to make them less straight)
5) Do a circle : I look at a corner of the map, the decide what happened there and what is the “main” thing : hilly ? Lots of water ? Desert ? etc. Once I’ve done a rough try, I do that for another corner.
6) Once everything has been roughly made, then it’s the second pass at details
7) Do something unexpected : cut land in two, add ocean, remove ocean, transform the land and do what should happen (for instance if the ocean “advance into the land” I flatten the hills if there’s some)
8) Third pass at details
0) Rule 0 : if at a moment I want to do something strange or even I don’t know why I do it, I do it.
