Here is part 3 of my maximum score no death run of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for the NES.

What initially began as a no damage attempt had to be changed into a maximum points run, when things obviously didn't go according to plan (its' WAY too easy to get hit in this game hahaha!).

Knowing full well that maxing out the score in this game would be a ten hour or so marathon, I decided to spend about five hours a day between August 10-August 11, 2013 to complete this challenge, leaving the game on and unpaused for well over 24 hours in the process, gotta love the power of Nintendo, baby!

Twin Galaxies has its own rules for obtaining a high score in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for the NES, but mine were far more severe and made the run more rewarding in the end. Here are the self appointed rules that I followed during my maximum score challenge:

-Not allowed to re-enter the same room to re-kill the same enemies, restock on pizza or items

-Not allowed to take any damage until Area 3 at the very least (in this way if the Dam swimming section actually offered points, a perfect score would have had to be given after completing it flawlessly, yeah I know, I'm such a NERD!)

-Not allowed to pick up any pizza until after maxing out the score at 9999500 (I was hoping that it would max out with all 9s like with Bayou Billy and most games for that matter, but NOooo!)

-Game must be completed without dying

In order to spare you viewers of the monotonous gameplay that I endured for over 9 hours, while having to move from one side of a particular room in Area 5 to the other, in order to have the enemies re-spawn (so that they could be killed over and over again for an eventual maximum score), the footage has been conveniently sliced here to show all of the main action (such as taking damage or reaching key point totals).

I found a room in the top left corner of Area 5 whereby the giant spider-like enemies offer more than the usual 100 points. Sometimes they can be worth as much as 1000 points each! However, 700 to 900 points is more commonly given by these creeps.

In the final level, Area 6, there is also a spot to easily score 1000 points per kill while using Don against the blue laser dude, which is included in this run of course :).

On a side note, Raph proved to be the hero of this run, racking up well over 90% of the overall points!

Don was a distant second, followed by Mike (who should have received 10,000 points for killing Shredder in the end, as described in the instruction manual, but instead he got absolutely nothing for killing the Shred Head, because he's apparently a worthless piece of trash!) and Leo.

Played by Daniel "DTysonator" Teixeira on an original NES while using a regular controller and absolutely no cheating, but plenty of farming, or "leeching", as some suckers like to call it, but unfortunately this is required to max out the score in this particular game. Once the game is beaten, the high score resets back to 0.

*In contrast, some Konami games such as The Adventures of Bayou Billy, Castlevania and Contra allow the player's score to carry over for as many consecutive games as he or she so desires, until a continue is used, in which case the high score will reset to 0.
