To Chicago For MathCON P1: Why You Should Rent A Car For Roadtrip & 2016 Chevy Equinox SUV Review
Aiman and Hizami both qualified to participate in MathCON National Competition at the University of Illinois Chicago on April 23, 2016. Out of 45,000 5th-12th grade students from 380 schools across 42 states who participated in the online qualifying round, only 600 get to compete in this final 'showdown' at UIC.
Aiman's brother Hizami qualified to participate in MathCON National last year but he didn't get to go because of financial reasons, but since Aiman also qualified this year, their parents decided that it was worthwhile to take the trip there.
This is the first part in a multi-part vlog of their road trip to Chicago, similar to their documented road trip to Pittsburgh several years ago where Aiman made a series of videos.
The family opted to drive because it would be cheaper to drive from New Haven to Chicago versus flying. They decided to rent a car instead of driving their own because they didn't want to rack in the mileage. The trip would be 2,000 miles back and forth. Renting a car made sense in many ways - newer car, not racking up mileage on personal vehicle, higher miles per gallon, ability to switch the car with the rental company should the car break down are among the primary reasons.
They got a good deal on a brand new 2016 Chevrolet Equinox LT from a national rental company. It was cheaper than a compact car. It fits 5 people comfortably thus allowed Anisa to tag along as well. In this video Aiman also highlight several features of Chevy Equinox SUV just in case someone is looking to buy or rent this vehicle. The best feature we like about this car is its EPA per gallon of 25-35 mpg, comparable to that of Honda Civic despite being an SUV and a larger size. It has that commanding view and it is also very comfortable for a long trip.
If you enjoy this video, please watch the next few parts. We were planning to stop by at several places along the way...
