Read for clarifications, terminology, and summary of the run. (It's a doozy)

It's been a while since I last posted a run for this hidden gem, and this time it's on official hardware! The first thing i wanna get into real quick would be that a legendary runner by the name of SuperTobalMan taught me an RNG manipulation for the first dungeon. By utilizing this, the first dungeon's potion colors are fixed. If I find a certain color I'll know without identifying it in-game exactly what its effect is. On top of that, I've greatly improved at combat and understanding the mechanics including potion mixing, which did come in handy a bit in this particular run even in the final dungeon! All the new things i've learned helped me to cut my PB down by nearly half.

I limited grinding attack and defense in this run compared to my previous personal bests. I did not grind at all in the main dungeons and only upped defense a bit in the first few floors of the final dungeon.

Anyhoo, I worked really hard for 2 months straight of not finishing a run at all to finally get one completed that I'm satisfied with. This is not the end of Tobal 2 for me and i'll be more motivated to come back often now that i'm comfortable running it.. while also dealing with Japanese text. Thanks so much for watching and reading this, and I hope you enjoy this run. I find it to be a real treat.
twitch.tv/aerlien is where this happens

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Muteki - Invincible: Makes the user completely impervious to damage and hitstun
Tetsujin - Unblockable: The user's attacks cannot be blocked.
Invisible: When the user's model is blank, fights cannot be started and they may cook food and potions by using enemy fire. (Invis is the most important potion in the run)
Double - X2: Effects subsequent to using this potion either last twice as long or become twice as effective
Hyper: Cooldown after doing a standing attack is negated.
White Potion - Uncurse: Bad Gems are cursed, meaning they are impossible to remove once equipped. By combining potions based on their RGB values, you can create a white potion to lift the curse on the bad gems. This also comes with a randomly generated potion effect.

Red Gems: Offense ( 脚力の石 ) Leg Strength
Green Gem: Life Max
Transparent Green Gem: Extra Life Gem
Yellow Gem: Stamina Max
Blue Gem: Defense
Purple Gem: Captures injured enemies

Throughout the run it's optimal to build the strongest Leg, or Kick gem since the best attacks for characters are often used with the left leg. On the flip side, I also build the worst Life Gems so that I may throw them at bosses, forcing the enemies to equip the gems and be 1 shot or close to it as a result.

Eating food while your stamina bar is maxed out will grant you defense experience. I used it as a safety strat since I wanted to ensure a PB.

Every time you strike an enemy with a limb, that limb gains experience. I mentioned the left leg in particular earlier and that is the one I almost exclusively hit enemies with for this reason.

Shops - Buying: You can tell what kind of potion is on sale by the price and of course if they match any that are in your inventory. Food can help you stay alive, Green Jelly restores health as well
Shops - Selling: Defense gems sell for a whopping 500 mol, enough for an invis and 2 doubles. You can appraise unknown gems you have by attempting to sell them and canceling. The price increases or decreases by 10% of a gem's respective base price for each positive or negative level that is on the unknown gem.

Small Helm, Psycho Hom, and Green Man: These three are the only sources of Extra Life Gems in the run. The former 2 have a chance of dropping them upon defeat but Green Man's is equipped, thus must be defeated via capture gem to acquire it. This is because a Life Gem cannot be equipped unless you dump your entire health bar into it. If you die after this then the gem is consumed and you get that lifebar back. Psycho and Small Helm's need to be filled after obtaining them unlike Green Man. This is a safety strat and not required.

Hom Vs. Other Characters: Hom is my favorite character and he has all the tools you need for the speedrun. He has a good jump kick, a knockdown string that enemies commonly get hit by, great ground hitting lows, and good juggle tools. The character I see that outclasses him is Fei. He has a similar toolset to Hom's that is harder to use but more effective, on top of being shorter and thus harder to hit. I may do more runs with him in the future. Epon, Chuji, and Doctor V are all viable too.
