Top 15 rock/metal albums for 2020. Honestly, my top 4 surprises me since death metal usually wins by any means necessary. However, these albums just kicked so much ass that they were in constant rotation for me pretty much all year round. Especially that Loathe album. When I heard that 10 months ago I knew it was special and that it would hold up. Here we are in December and I still jam the hell out of that album. The clip posted for that album is very chill but it also has some super heavy moments too. So be sure to check that one out.

Suicide Silence's new album was a good return after their 2017 release being such a massive flop. Become the Hunter has a lot of great songs and killer grooves on it. Lamb of God's album is just solid LoG. Great song writing and intense lyrical content had me coming back for more. Gorephilia's album brought forth everything I could possibly like about old school death metal. Incredibly deep writing and fantastic vocal work. Cytotoxin's album is technical death metal at it's finest. Very intense musicianship and ultra heavy vocal work. Hatebreed returned with another bad ass album that blends what the band does best with thrashy Slayer moments and crushing Crowbar grooves.

Xibalba came forth with what I would call groove meets death metal. Crushing riffs and vocal work. Primitive Man knows how to paint a picture with their song writing and the atmosphere on Immersion is terrifying. Revenge released an album that is obnoxiously wicked but I can't stop listening to it. The music is ball busting the the layers of vocals on this album just have me headbanging all of the time. Undeath was the coolest album this year with catchy song writing and hooks for days. The album slaps hard. Perdition Temple is the shit. It's pure evil, violence and has enough black metal within it to make it just fierce and relentless. I love it.

Defeated Sanity is Defeated Sanity at it's best. Pure hectic technical brutal death metal savagery. Deftones returned with Ohms and it's some of the best song writing since Diamond Eyes. Vocals are a little washy but damn them riffs are tasty. Loathe is the suprise hit here for me, never heard of this band before but they bring heavy djent atmospheres with beautiful post-rock soundscapes. It's a scream along and a sing along all in one. Kirk Windstein (Crowbar) released a solo album and it's just rock solid riffing, singing and lyrics. Some of the grooviest riffs of the year come from this album.

My number one even surprises myself. I am a Static-X fan and have been for 2 decades now and Project Regeneration was flawless in my eyes. I loved this album. The riffs are tight. The nostalgia is there. The fact they pulled Wayne's vocals from old tapes and wrote music with it and it sounds great is great work via the band and engineers alike. I just genuinely really like this album.

Cheers.
