5. Gravity Crash
Gravity Crash is a old style multidirectional shooter, homage to arcade games of the 1980s.
The player chooses a planet to visit from a top-level menu, and then explores that planet in a two-dimensional side view. The planetary surfaces tend to be riddled with systems of caverns: manoeuvring through them while taking gravity into account is one of the game's principal challenges. Gravity Crash was inspired by three games in particular, Gravitar, Thrust and Oids.
If you like classic 80s games, you NEED this game ! It also offers a Level editor and a 4-Players split screen, it's a very cool game.
There is a PSP version and a sequel is coming for the PSVita, if you're interested !.
4. Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light
Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light is a platform action video game developed by Crystal Dynamics and published by Square Enix. It has also a cooperative gameplay: in multiplayer, players take the role as either Lara Croft or a 2,000-year-old Mayan warrior named Totec. They must work together in order to stop the evil spirit Xolotl and retrieve the Mirror of Smoke. The Guardian of Light may be played with a single player, and a second player may join at any time, whether online or locally.
Even if this game does not feels like a classic TR game, it's a good game and I suggest it to you.
There are also 2 DLCs based on the Soul Reaver Legacy Of Kain and Kane and Lync sagas... considering the fact I guess we're all waiting for a LOK sequel, I think we all would like to play that DLC !
3. Wipeout HD Fury
Wipeout HD, trademarked and stylised as WipEout HD,[4][5] is the eighth title in the Wipeout racing video game series, developed by Sony Liverpool for the PlayStation 3 console. The game marks the Wipeout franchise's debut on PlayStation 3 and was available exclusively as a downloadable title from the PlayStation Store; it is now available on Blu-ray disc packaged with the Fury expansion as of 16 December 2009. While the game borrows its tracks and teams from the PlayStation Portable games Wipeout Pure and Wipeout Pulse, the content has been upgraded for the game to render up to 1080p[6] and at 60 frames per second with a Dolby 5.1 surround soundtrack
This game is a classic Wipeout racing game, it featured also a multiplayer split-screen mode and the capability to stream your own music from the HDD during the gameplay, it's a very cool game and they did give it gratis for the people that had the opportunity to take games free out the welcome back package !
2. Matt Hazard: Blood Bath and Beyond
Metal Slug + Contra with co-op and a lot of irony !
This game is full of parodies from other games, you'll discover them all only by playing it !
Eat Lead: The Return of Matt Hazard is a 2D side-scroller action game for PlayStation 3 (PSN). The game was developed by Vicious Cycle Software and published by D3 Publisher, It is a sequel to Eat Lead: The Return of Matt Hazard.
Weapons available to the player include flamethrowers, shotguns, grenades, plasma rifles and ice guns. The player is also able to deflect missiles the enemy fires at them by shooting at them. The game also features a large amount of graphic violence, unlike its predecessor
I strongly suggest this game to all people that wants a good old-style side scroller shooter game in Contra and Metal Slug style to play with a friend.
1. Dead Nation
Dead Nation is a top-down shoot 'em up video game for PlayStation 3. Dead Nation takes place in a fictional world afflicted by a zombie apocalypse. The player can play as a male or female character and fight different types of zombies. Dead Nation was one of the games given by Sony as part of their 'Welcome Back' package.
Players are awarded score multipliers and money when zombies are killed. Money is used to purchase and upgrade weapons on checkpoints, and multipliers to grant better scores. Each time players are hit, they lose multipliers and health.[5] Players fight their way through ten levels, using weapon shops that allow weapon upgrading and armor swapping. During the levels, players can find boxes that hold ammunition, multipliers, money, or armor pieces, and also loot cars trunks for money. If a car is blown up before being looted, though, the loot is lost. At times the players are trapped in areas where they must survive until they have accomplished a certain goal (i.e.: wait for an elevator while fighting zombies or kill all zombies in the area). Armor sets influence strength, endurance and agility.
This game is awesome if played in co-op, it features local and online multiplayer cooperative mode. The graphics and the atmosphere in this game are awesome and his old-style gameplay is just something you have to try, you'll love it !
