If you're just getting started with playing TemTem then these tips for beginners should help you out.

1. Just get a full team of 6 as soon as you can. The way stamina works in TemTem, even if your guy faints in one hit - it still drains the enemy stamina meter and makes it less capable of fighting the next one in line. Running on of stamina makes it way harder for a Tem to full sweep a team than in a Pokemon battle where most moves can be used 10/15/20 times consecutively with no drawback.

3. Probably don't stuff your starter in storage. Most of the early Tems are pretty atrocious and their early moves are pretty bad. It's hard to win with them. Obviously, I tried to challenge this.

5. If you're lost early on, try to go up more. Everything is up before the first dojo battle.
You're going to see a lot of people on Surfboards - it's cool and you'll probably want one yourself. It's a story reward so you'll have to keep going to get it - you can't buy it in any of the towns.
