Toree 3D - Full Game: Still Want that Ice Cream?
2We help a little chick recover his ice cream cone that was stolen by a Grim Reaper-esque creature by platforming our way through nine levels, with some being creepier than others.
I'll be honest, when I first launched this game to configure the audio for the playthrough, I was starting to question whether or not I should go through with this on the grounds that the title screen was giving off major drug-induced horror vibes. But after playing through a couple of levels, my fears were (mostly) put to rest and I quickly grew to love this game a lot.
Sure, some of the levels have an eerie atmosphere and some slight horror moments that would be right at home in "Mario 64", but that and the absolute lack of story only add to the charm of this title.
But where this game really shines is its solid controls. Seriously, the controls in this game are some of the best I've ever seen and between the tight turning and the incredibly reliable double-jump, you always feel like you're 100% in control of Toree, even when you're sliding around on ice.
As for shortcomings, the only one that I can think of is that the game only consists of nine levels that can all be completed in around three minutes on your first playthrough. However, considering that this game only costs a dollar on Steam (when it's not on sale), I can hardly complain.
As such, if you love fast-paced platformers with a focus on tight controls and completing each level in the fastest time possible, then I highly recommend giving this game a try.
