So, what I tried to say in the video, but perhaps failed to communicate, was that prepatch 7, formation attack was a trait some units (like Roman and Hellenic sword units) shared. Formation attack, when enabled, decreases the killing power of swords. Now on Patch 7, every unit can disable formation attack, which means that the barbarians and units that didn't have it no longer have an advantage in melee combat.

So Roman infantry and units like Royal Peltasts have become much stronger, meaning that barbarians now have no clear edge in a melee fight, and will likely be used much less in competitive play.
