At long last, Reimu steals the precious thing.

I've wanted this run to happen for a while now, and to finally have it puts one hell of a smile on my face. The stage portion is pretty tough (extra emphasis on the section between second midboss Alice and boss Alice) and Alice herself is quite difficult. Despite being a Stage 3 boss, Alice stands tall in the upper tiers of difficulty making her one of the hardest non-Final bosses in the series.

The main reason I wanted to do this was because of my history with the stage and Alice herself. I was introduced to Touhou via Marisa Stole the Precious Thing, so the first character I immediately knew and liked was Alice. My first game was PCB, and simply because Alice was the boss of Stage 3, I automatically played that stage more often than others. Over the first month or so of play when I was conditioning myself to become better, I oftentimes jumbled IN's spell practice with practice runs of PCB's Stage 3, working my way up from easy to hard. Notably, many of these runs consisted of me trying to clear Alice's many patterns via pacifist means (of course, I usually didn't do too hot). With this in mind, Stage 3 and the Alice battle has become quite nostalgic for me, and achieving this run has ended a chapter of sorts in my Touhou career.

Oh, and also, Alice is awesome. That would of course be the other reason of why I decided to be masochistic in doing this.

Anyway, onto the video itself: getting both the stage and Alice down in the same run proved to be extremely annoying. Before getting this run, I had a handful of perfect Alice battles, but had suffered deaths earlier during the stage.

Alice's hardest cards for me were definitely Benevolent Orléans Dolls and Hanged Hourai Dolls, the former of which was my main adversary in getting this run down. Right when I captured Orléans Dolls and had done everything perfectly preceding it, I knew that everything was then on the line--it would, as with the Utsuho battle, come down to nerves and whether the last card (in this case, Hanged Hourai Dolls) would shit in my face. Nothing feels better than coming out on top while your heart is racing :)
