Playing through Touhou Koumakyou ~ The Embodiment Of Scarlet Devil on the Mircosoft Windows as the Eternal Shrine Maiden herself: Reimu Hakurei! This game is the first installment of the canon that we know today according to ZUN himself and it introduces the Spell Card system which is used for the player's bombs and most attacks of every multi phase boss. Players can either choose Reimu Hakurei or Maria Kirisame before starting the game and both can choose from their own two different weapons and Spell Cards each having their own properties.
Like I stated before, Touhou Koumakyou ~ The Embodiment Of Scarlet Devil is the first installment of the canon that we know today according to ZUN himself! This is also the Touhou game that started making a cult following featuring individuals that are capable of making internet memes, fan games, song covers and remixes, and even fan anime! Without this game, we don't know how many fans this franchise could make! Long ago, a region in Japan known as Gensokyo was a battlefield where humans and youkai fought eachother until the Hakurei Barrier was created as it contained the entire region whole. Despite being closed off from the Outside World (AKA: Our world) humans and youkai made themselves at home and reside there for years to come despite being divided in general. As time passed, Gensokyo inhabited many more species that aren't considered human or youkai such as vampires and many other species that I cannot mention until the many games after this one! Speaking of vampires, we move to the present day where a vampire named Remilia Scarlet knowing she's weak to sunlight summoned a scarlet mist which covered the skies of Gensokyo so she can leave her Scarlet Devil Mansion without any protection whatsoever. This was a sign of an incident for none other than Reimu Hakurei, the current shrine maiden of the Hakurei Shrine and Marisa Kirisame, a human magician who likes to come along with Reimu as her partner just for her own personal reasons. Together, they will resolve their first incident by fighting through the Scarlet Devil Mansion! To ensure that their first battle won't have any death or injury whatsoever, Reimu uses the Spell Card rules which are based on non lethal battles that mainly uses bullets! This is where our story begins...
