Train Mechanic Simulator is certainly unlike any train-related game I've tried, although there are a few problems with it, mostly (I think) to do with the English translation from Polish. Firstly, I have been unable to obtain an English manual for it (more on that below), but perhaps just as important, the locomotive's air system is misrepresented as a "hydraulic" system.

From time to time, a hydraulic system of some kind is used on a train, but all train brakes are either pneumatic, mechanical, or regenerative (dynamic on diesels), and most appliances which are not electric are run off the same air system as the brakes. For example, the windshield wipers on most old EMD's are air powered. In Train Mechanic Simulator, however, the brakes are mischaracterized as hydraulic, and there is even a hydraulics workbench in the back shop you're using. One would have to hope that this is simply a mistake in the English translation.

Overall, though, the originality of this game, and my own lifelong interest in railways and trains, makes this a game that I wish I could play more often. Unfortunately, the main problem with it is simply that my computer is too old and weak to run it without risking damage. This isn't necessarily the fault of Si7 Studio, who developed this game, as the market generally demands better and better graphics standards with each year.

Getting back to the first point about translation, as a favor to non-Czech, non-Slovak, non-Polish players of this game, I compiled the following English translation of the controls:
