Traveling Through Time In A Side-Scroller Action Roguelike | PROJECT TACHYON demo
Hello everyone! Here we are with another demo from the latest Steam Next Fest. This is PROJECT TACHYON, a side-scroller shooter action roguelike, where the whole loop is justified by time traveling. Gameplay is a lot of fun, design is pretty good, although animations are still rough. Voice acting is pretty good (classic japanese voice acting), but there is way too much exposition right from the start, and it feels like a modern sci-fi anime (which I am not a big fan of). Don't get me wrong, I don't have a problem with a game telling a story (Hades was great), but having over 30 minutes of only dialogues and tutorial right from the start can be boring and tedious... and it kinda got rid of my mood of trying this game, reason why I didn't go for another try. To be fair, I would have killed that boss if it wasn't because I thought the fight was over... but whatever, gg.
Upgrades were still a bit boring (although I didn't get to see many) and close range combat felt unrewarding (sadly), but the game itself has a lot of potential and feels great to play (so grateful of the lack of contact damage with enemies).
