EPISODE #3: BAIRD'S TAPIR/ANDEAN FLAMINGO
BAIRD'S TAPIR
Tapirus bairdii
Baird's tapir s an endangered mammal native to the woodlands of Central America. It's one of five species of tapir - four of which live in Central and/or South America. Males and females are similar sizes, although females are slightly larger, and both have a dark brown to black coat, as well as a pale chin and chest when fully grown. Calves, meanwhile, are tan with white spots and stripes; their coloration provides them with camouflage in the dappled light of the woodland where they live.
The main threat to this endangered species is deforestation, which is destroying their habitat. In order to try and reduce this, conservationists are heavily concentrated on protecting the woodlands and rainforests of Central America. Hunting is also a threat - despite it being illegal to hunt tapirs in Mexico, Belize, Guatemala, Costa Rica and Panama, these laws are rarely enforced.
The Baird's Tapir was one of the iniitial species available with the release of the base game on November 5, 2019.

ANDEAN FLAMINGO
Phoenicoparrus andinus
The Andean flamingo is a species of flamingo native to the Andes mountains of South America. Until 2014, it was classified in genus Phoenicopterus.[3] It is closely related to James's flamingo, and the two make up the genus Phoenicoparrus. The Chilean flamingo, Andean flamingo, and James' flamingo are all sympatric, and all live in colonies (including shared nesting areas).
It is distinguished from other flamingos by its deeper lower mandible and the very long filtering filaments on the maxilla. It is the largest flamingo in the Andes and is one of the two heaviest living flamingos alongside the taller Greater Flamingo.
The flamingo has a pale pink body with brighter upperparts, deep vinaceous-pink lower neck, breast, and wing coverts. It is the only flamingo species with yellow legs and three-toed feet. Its bill is pale yellow near the skull, but black for the majority of its length, and curves downward. Its lower mandible is less apparent than those of the genus Phoenicopterus. The Andean flamingo is considered a vulnerable species due to the mining business and human disturbances causing changes in its habitat.
The Andean Flamingo is not a species available from the game or any of its DLC normally and can only be added by downloading it as a modded species. It can be found as part of the Flamingo Pack created by Leaf Productions.
