TRICK THE TIMER in DuckTales (NES) - A Wild Glitch Appears!
550In DuckTales for the NES, there's a simple glitch you can exploit to earn an otherwise-unattainable amount of bonus points/money when you beat a level. While the trick is simple in concept, it is difficult to execute because it requires frame-perfect timing.
Normally, when you beat a boss at the end of any level, you collect their sacred treasure which is worth a cool $1,000,000. Then, the game awards you an additional $1,000 for each full ten seconds in time remaining on your timer.
However, if you collect the boss treasure on the exact same frame that the timer runs out, it will read TIME UP, but you will still beat the level! Then, when the game rewards you for time remaining, you will earn an absurd amount of bonus points.
In this example, the game awarded me $325,000 as if I had 3,250 seconds left on the clock. This is normally not possible, since the level timer starts at 600 seconds, and therefore you could only theoretically earn a bonus $60,000 if you were to somehow beat the level in 0 seconds.
Points are generally pointless in a lot of games, but there is a GOOD ENDING in DuckTales if you win the game with over $10,000,000 accrued. Plus, at any point during the game, you can press SELECT to fully heal Scrooge at the cost of $3,000,000.
