🏢 Government Power | President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (Workers' Party) said this Tuesday (August 5, 2025) that US President Donald Trump (Republican Party) does not want to discuss tariffs, but that he will call the American and invite him to participate in COP30 (2025 United Nations Climate Change Conference) in Belém. The statements were made during a meeting of the Council for Sustainable Economic and Social Development, known as the "Conselhão" (Big Council).
"I'm not going to call Trump because he doesn't want to talk. But you can be sure, Marina [Silva, Minister of the Environment], I'm going to call Trump to invite him to the COP30 because I want to know what he thinks about the climate issue. I'll be kind enough to call. I'll call him, Xi Jinping, and Prime Minister [Narendra] Modi. I just won't call [Vladimir] Putin because he can't travel," he said.
