This game's been in Early Access for a while and I remember some people recommended I give it a try a while back... but then again nobody watches my non Serious Sam videos. But you know what, at the end of the day it's not about the views but rather if I had fun playing it or not, and I can safely say I did in fact have A LOT of fun playing through this game!

Currently only 2 out of the 3 planned episodes have been released but it seems the game is nearing completion which is why I decided to pitch in some cash to see what all the fuss is about, and I wasn't disappointed.

Visually, Turbo Overkill is stunning to look at with gorgeous lighting, rain effects, and a captivating Blade Runner esce artstyle. In terms of core mechanics, movement and weapon switching are brisk, shooting feels impactful, music is excellent, and combat is satisfying.

Sound effects are lacking imo, but for the most part they're serviceable. Examples would be how enemies either lack or have very quiet: player spotted, getting hit, idle, attack, and footstep sounds. The player's weapons also don't sound all that punchy, and like with enemy sounds, ambient noises have issues with being super quiet or just absent. Examples being: faint buzzing from being near neon lights in the city, rain hitting the ground and thunder off in the distance whenever it's raining, enemy projectiles whizzing by you, faint city noises like static playing from the various TV monitors and cars honking in the distance, etc.

Overall though, I think Turbo Overkill is a very solid experience and one that's worth checking out. It's very much a classic FPS at heart while only tastefully incorporating some modern stuff into the mix.
