Here is a simple tutorial on how to customize a thumbnail!

Step 1: Monetize your channel.
-Go to Video Manager
-In the bottom left corner, click 'Channel'
-Enable Monetizing
Step 2: Take a Screenshot of your Thumbnail
-Move Snipping Tool (Windows Only) to your taskbar
-Have your video open to where you want to make your thumbnail
-Cut out the shot you want to use and save it
Step 3: (OPTIONAL) Open http://apps.pixlr.com/editor/
-File/Open Image, and choose your picture
-Edit it the way you like
-Save it and move to your Desktop
Step 4: Go to your video
-Click the edit button
-Select Custom Thumbnail
-Choose your picture
You should now be done! Click the Save Changes button, and you have done it!
