TWITCH PLAYS POKEMON BREAKS CHAT (Escapist News Now)

The wildly popular Twitch Plays Pokemon stream has reached over 100,000 concurrent viewers, but is it breaking the Twitch chat? The company said it's put, "enormous and unforeseen stress on Twitch's chat system." But despite that, it has been a wonderful learning experience for them.
They moved the channel off the general chat servers onto it's own dedicated server usually reserved for big eSports events like League of Legends or Dota2. According to Twitch engineer it helped...a little, but is still a work in progress.
The stream was started by an anonymous user who created a script that allows chat users to control the actions in the game being played on screen. As you can imagine, it quickly turned into chaos overcome with both enthusiasts and trolls alike. The creator recently implemented a new democratic voting system that tallies the directives given every few seconds, but that too became problematic as viewers attempted to stall the game's progress.
