[Alternate title: The Right to Bear Arms and Dad Bods]
Keiichi Maebara is the new kid in a small town, and all eyes are seemingly on him. As a transfer student from the big city, adjusting to life in rural Hinamizawa is a huge change of pace. Thankfully, he's got a tight circle of friends from the schoolhouse to keep him company, and for a while, things seem like they're looking up.
At least, until a series of rumors begin to forcefully worm their way into his life.
An out-of-town photographer inexplicably hanging around; the ruins of a long-abandoned dam construction project; an unusual annual festival for a local god; and a big-city cop sticking his nose in a string of cold cases—all of these events (and more) threaten to ruin the peaceful life Keiichi has carved out for himself.
And when the cicadas cry, Keiichi won't be able to forget his own terrible curiosity.
