So since us Americans weren't getting the true sequel to Super Mario Bros. due to its hellish difficulty (And to which I share that sentiment), instead, Nintendo took the already existing Doki Doki Panic and reskinned it into a Mario game, titled Super Mario Bros. 2. Because of its sudden change of formula, does it really deserve to be considered the black sheep of the bunch? We shall see.

Mario has a prophetic dream where the inhabitants of a land beyond a magical door were calling him for help, pleading for him to save their land from an evil tyrant. When Mario wakes, he and the gang discover the very same door in his dream and is transported to the land of Subcon. Mario and friends must travel through the mysterious land to save it from evil.
