UK Remembers 9/11 As British Forces Continue Mission In Afghanistan | Forces TV
As preparations continue for memorial services to victims of 9/11, New York has been on a heightened state of alert after what has been described as a "credible threat" of terrorism. Authorities there are said to be searching for three people suspected of being involved in a terrorist threat. The Mayor of New York, Michael Bloomberg, has announced increased security measures. The September 11th attacks on the World Trade Centre a decade ago killed nearly 3,000 people, including 67 Britons. It led Britain and NATO into Afghanistan, with UK servicemen and women fighting to drive out terrorist camps and networks and directly target Osama bin Laden, who was finally killed in a US-led mission in Pakistan.
