In recent weeks, Ukraine has faced some of the heaviest Russian airstrikes since the war began.

Russia has fired hundreds of drone and missile attacks at Ukraine, but many of them have been shot down by the country's newly-formed air defence units – including ones posted around Kyiv.

Despite some of the personnel only being armed with Man-Portable Air Defense Systems (MANPADS) and machine guns, they are defending their country from aerial attacks.
