Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 - Nov 18 12 B
Over this session, I was able to find the breathing space to figure out two more techniques that can be done in Simple Mode: The Snap Back and the Advancing Guard. I seem to be the only one who's looking into how Simple Mode works in any real detail, so I guess I'm a pioneer on this front.
Both moves are done in the same way as in Normal Mode: The Snap Back is a quarter circle forward with the Assist button. The Snap Back, for 1 bar of Hyper Combo, forces the opponent to switch to another character, great for finishing off guys on the sidelines with low remaining HP, or to take out Phoenix before she can become Dark Phoenix.
The Advancing Guard is done by holding away from the opponent and pressing any two buttons at once as you're about to get hit by an attack. I have Light + Medium set to Right Trigger, so I only need to push that. The Advancing Guard reduces chip damage (damage you'd normally take while blocking) and allows you to get going sooner than a regular guard.
There are still a number of other techniques I will need to figure out in Simple Mode, such as grabbing--or if these even exist at all. I've pretty much deduced that every character is reduced to 3 special attacks (or 2 sometimes) and 1 Hyper Combo...though if any further information is appreciated.
LeeLeeLegend IX left the room, so all subsequent matches are against YuuGiJoou.
Match #5
Vergil, Taskmaster, and Sentinel
vs.
Frank West, M.O.D.O.K., and Morrigan
Song: Shape Da Future
If you're counting requests by number, be sure to skip one for this one, as marshtomp8 had managed to slip two requests by me. Thus, his first request, #60, has been skipped, and I'll go straight to #61. I had a rough time against M.O.D.O.K. in this match. I can never get M.O.D.O.K. to do anything worthwhile in my hands though. I suppose I insult his intelligence.

Match #6
Tron, Doctor Strange, and Spider-Man
vs.
Super-Skrull, C. Viper, and Trish
Song: Metal Scratchin'
Apparently, Tron is relentless in Simple Mode...though had I known before this that Doctor Strange can teleport in this way, I'd have used it a lot more. Also, C. Viper was hanging on for a while at the end. Not as long as Viewtiful Joe in the last video, but still quite impressive. Obviously, I was going for a Crossover Combination Finish...but one trait of X-Factor, which is made quite clear here, is that characters in X-Factor don't take any damage from blocking.

Match #7
Nemesis T-Type, Doctor Doom, and Phoenix
vs.
Chun-Li, Zero, and Rocket Raccoon
Song: Fly Like a Butterfly
I like using Nemesis. His attacks come out slower, but they have a bunch of stun time and do big damage. Oddly, Thor still has the biggest defense of the entire game, despite him being way smaller than behemoths like Nemesis and Sentinel. In this match, I pick up Advancing Guards in Simple Mode. You also get to see bits of Nemesis vs. Rocket Raccoon, arguably the biggest size difference I have ever seen in a fighting game.
