Uncharted: The Lost Legacy Remastered PS5 4K 60FPS - Part 11 - End of the Line (Ending + Review)
Even though this game was presented almost like a side DLC for the Uncharted series, this likely my second favorite game after the previous Uncharted 4. Let's get into why...
+ (Positives)
+ 60FPS
+ Gorgeous HDR Visuals
+ Top-Notch Graphics
+ Nadine's characterization is leagues ahead of UC4
+ Chloe does well on her as the main protagonist
+ Sam's appearance late into the game
+ Length of the game (doesn't overstay it's welcome)
+ Level designs are unique and interesting (some of which oddly reminded me of SM64)
+ Elephant scene is gorgeous and breathtaking (similar to the giraffes in The Last of Us)
- (Negatives)
- Train sequence in the last chapter
- Minor Pacing issues (Western Ghats open-world section)
That's really it for negatives. The only main thing I didn't like was the final chapter. I get it was a callback to Uncharted 2 and 4, but man...those sequences are just not fun with the gameplay added. So many unnecessary deaths due to the fact the controls were off by just a hair. This happened more times than I can count, and I'm pretty sure the final chapter was the one I died the most in -- and it wasn't even close.
But to follow up with why I love this game? It's a smaller, more compact version of Uncharted 4 with great female protagonists like Nadine and Chloe. I will admit I was a bit apprehensive if Chloe could carry her own title, but the chemistry between her, Nadine and Sam worked wonders. Also, it's extremely fascinating to see a completely different side of Nadine not working with Hardline and on her own in this title. Gives a completely different perspective to her character, which was the highlight of this game, in my opinion.
The designs of some of the levels really reminded me of Super Mario 64. Some might be wondering where -- mainly sliding down objects and paths along with several sections that immediately reminded me of similar design from Nintendo, which is a good thing considering that game is one of the best designed games of all time - in my opinion.
Music was decent enough, but the graphics and HDR really shine with this title. The colors pop, India looks stunning with the Hoysala Empire and everything feels lush and intricately placed. Gorgeous eye-candy and dare I say even better looking than Uncharted 4, which already looked incredible, considering it came out in 2016.
Lost Legacy didn't do anything new - and sometimes that's not a bad thing. Elevate what worked in previous titles and really give the characters the depth and space to breathe, and this title more than does that and then some.
Uncharted: The Lost Legacy Remastered: 9/10
Uncharted: The Lost Legacy Remastered on PS5: 10/10 (60FPS + HDR looks beyond incredible on 4K TVs).
Would've been a perfect, but that last chapter dropped it a point due to terrible gameplay mechanics in tight spaces. But the elephants were the ones that stole the show.
A wonderful addition that's not talked about at all in the Uncharted franchise. I don't know if it's the way Naughty Dog marketed this game, but it is a fully-fledged title that's packed with gorgeous visuals, amazing characterization and a tight script. Hopefully this playlist shows others that it's worth diving into.
Give it a chance:)
