Uni work - Yggdrasil - Game Engine Concept 1
At uni, I have been placed into a team consisting of 6 members (personally, I think that is WAY too many people as 3 people could easily manage on their own), and we have to make a Point and Click game aimed at 9-11 year olds (That's 9 to 11, not...never mind).
The game idea presented to us is 'Yggdrasil' and is about a Guy called 'Antman' who...somehow ends up in the forest, shrunk to the size of an Ant and with the help of his trusty companian, Beetlebird he...battles....insects...
Yeah, so our team decided to scrap THAT idea, and replaced the main character with a girl called Fraya. (During an improvised cutscene) One day Fraya decided to write a book about an amazing adventure, but after desperately trying to find inspiration like Spongebob did in the 'Procrastination' episode, when suddenly a ladybird flies into the window and starts nomming on a plant. The player then see's progression of the character writing her book as she finishes it, closing it to reveal the title of the game, Yggdrasil.
This video is a quick, basic render of what the game may look or feel like (I'm not a graphical artist, that's up to the others in my team. Also, i'm still working on this flash file from time to time to give my team members something t discuss as far as the game looks.), the team might decide to have all the graphics 3D and to have the camera move about a bit, while still showing the 2D sprites and animation, like in the Paper Mario games.
