Story:
A United Airlines Airbus A319-100, registration N837UA performing flight UA-2098 from New York La Guardia,NY to Houston Intercontinental,TX (USA) with 128 passengers and 5 crew, was climbing out of La Guardia's runway 31 when the crew declared emergency reporting hydraulic issues, their new destination was Newark, and stopped the climb at 8000 feet. The aircraft headed for an ILS approach to Newark's runway 22L, on approach to Newark the crew requested delay vectors while troubleshooting the issue. The crew advised they expected to be able to vacate the runway. The aircraft landed on Newark's runway 22L about 17 minutes after departure. As soon as the aircraft touched down the fire commander declared runway 22L closed, the next arrivals needed to go around. The crew immediately afterwards announced they needed to evacuate. Tower advised all aircraft on approach and on ground the aircraft was currenty closed due to the emergency ongoing. The aircraft came to a stop with both left main tyres deflated. The aircraft was evacuated via slides. There were no injuries.
There were no reports of any debris on La Guardia's runway 31.
The FAA reported the aircraft blew two left tyres due to a brakes problem. The passengers deplaned via slides.
The airport opened about one hour later.
A replacement A319-100 registration N809UA is estimated to reach Houston with a delay of about 5 hours.
