I was in Svalbard for work and decided to take a look at an abandoned mine which was located on a mountain.
Gruve 2 was built in 1913 and was set on fire by a German battleship during WWII. The fire burned untill 1962. In 1968 the coal depleted, so the shaft got abandoned.
