The U.S. Embassy in Mexico announced an important change to the nonimmigrant visa application process, effective September 2, 2025. Some applicants will no longer need to attend an interview with a consular officer, which is a relief for many and expedites the process.

This update applies to certain categories of diplomatic, official, and tourist/business (B1/B2) visas being renewed. However, there are also new developments for those who will lose this benefit: children under 14 years of age and adults over 79 years of age must now appear for an interview.
