Useless Smash 4 Tech: Long Dashes | Super Smash Bros. for Wii U

There's a small window between doing the smallest dash possible and doing a dash into a skid, and if you dash just long enough, you'll slide a little bit without skidding. I have a feeling this is already known (e.g. extended dash dancing can have different lengths based on your timing) but I thought it was worth posting.
I accidentally did this in a match with Greninja and it was noticed by both me and the guy I was playing against, which is weird considering how small the slide was. Either I didn't replicate it properly enough or we're just strangely perceptive, I don't know.
(if you're curious about my choice of characters, Greninja was the one I originally did it with, and Meta Knight has the longest step dash, so I thought he'd have a longer slide)
