During the days when the Karakia (incantations) flowed continuously like rivers to the sky and the pride of the tribes echoed across land and sea. When the war party under the heavy influence of Tapu and aided by the gods would seek the blood and flesh of the vanquished. The gift (UTU) must be returned to the people, and for the ancestors, who are the source of Mana. When the vitality of the ancestral knowledge seemed eternal…
The definition of UTU: reciprocation, equal, revenge. UTU goes back and forth like the tide. It is the balance that is nature.
The warrior spirit within us all has been suppressed by the impulsive desires that rule most people. Sacrifice whether small (comfort) or big (death) is the foundation of reality. There must be compensation (UTU) for the damage done. The Earth, the Ancestors, demand UTU for the sacrilege that has been committed. Never forget the bones buried underneath the once sacred land where all town’s establishing church are built upon. Greed is their god, they have forgotten where they come from, who they are. We must give our all to the original, the natural, the true. It will take generations to equal the damage done. Their blood must flow for a very long time. We demand decapitated christian heads on poles with money stuffed into their open mouths. Soulless eyes of fear, offer the heaps to the earth… UTU

The demo Maori Shores was released March 2015. It is the first Polynesian themed Black Metal band. UTU is from Impío Cruz, California. All vocals were recorded in local caverns. There was no added reverb except for two tracks on the last song Row To The Pa (Taiharuru). The demo features the 12 string Lithuanian Kankles, and the 5 string Finnish Kantele.
